Factory Overview: From Mortar Specialist to Backer Board Leader

Angesen's manufacturing base is located in the Guangde Economic Development Zone, Xuancheng City, Anhui Province — situated within the Yangtze River Delta's core manufacturing belt. The location offers excellent transport links to both Shanghai Port and Ningbo Port, each within 300 km, providing a natural logistics advantage for global export. The facility spans 50,000 m², making it one of the largest specialized XPS waterproof backer board manufacturing bases in East China.

The factory was designed around a vertically integrated philosophy — from XPS core extrusion through polymer mortar coating, mesh embedding, precision cutting, and finished product packaging, every core process is completed in-house. This integration ensures end-to-end quality control while dramatically shortening lead times.

Key Factory Metrics

  • Total site area: 50,000 m²
  • Annual capacity: 2 million m² (expandable to 3 million m²)
  • Production lines: 3 fully automated (1 XPS extrusion + 2 composite coating)
  • Warehouse: 200 standard container capacity, simultaneous storage
  • Workforce: 150+, with technical and QC staff accounting for 30%
  • Export countries: 20+

Deep Dive: Three Core Workshops

1. XPS Extrusion Workshop: Where Quality Takes Physical Form

This is the first and one of the most critical stages of the manufacturing process. The workshop features internationally advanced XPS extrusion lines using environmentally safe physical foaming technology (CO2 as the blowing agent), completely eliminating ozone-depleting CFC and HCFC blowing agents.

Critical Process Control Points:

  • Raw material batching: fully automated metering and mixing ensures batch-to-batch formulation consistency
  • Temperature control: precision zoned temperature regulation (±1°C) across barrel and die ensures homogeneous extrusion
  • Online thickness measurement: laser sensors monitor board thickness in real time, with automatic alarms for out-of-tolerance conditions
  • Core density control: coordinated adjustment of blowing agent injection rate and extrusion speed maintains density in the optimal 32-38 kg/m³ range

After extrusion, XPS cores undergo gradient cooling on a calibration table, avoiding the internal stress buildup and dimensional distortion caused by rapid cooling. Cooled cores are stored in a conditioning area for 24-48 hours for dimensional stabilization before entering the next process.

2. Composite Coating Workshop: Birth of the Sandwich Structure

This is where Angesen's core technology resides — applying high-performance polymer-modified mortar coating to both sides of the XPS core and embedding alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh, creating a rigid-flexible sandwich structure.

Unique Dual-Side Synchronous Coating Technology:

  • Top and bottom coatings are applied simultaneously, eliminating the warping that occurs with sequential single-side coating
  • Coating thickness is precisely controlled within the 1.5-3.0 mm range
  • The polymer mortar formulation incorporates specialty additives (redispersible polymer powder, cellulose ether, PP fibers) to enhance flexibility and crack resistance
  • An automated mesh embedding system ensures the fiberglass mesh is centered within the coating layer with ≤2 mm deviation

After coating, boards enter a tunnel drying kiln where they undergo 8-12 hours of controlled drying at gradient temperatures of 40-60°C. The dual-mode drying system (hot air circulation + dehumidification) ensures efficient drying while preventing surface cracking from excessively rapid moisture loss.

3. Finishing and Packaging Workshop: Precision Defines Quality

Dried boards enter the finishing stage:

  • CNC precision cutting: boards are cut to standard or custom dimensions with ±1 mm accuracy
  • Edge profiling: 45° chamfer or radius edge treatments available per customer specifications
  • Automated QC system: in-line inspection of thickness, flatness, and surface defects
  • Intelligent packaging line: automatic counting, stacking, stretch-wrapping, and labeling

Every Angesen backer board that leaves the factory carries a unique batch traceability code linking back to raw material lots, production date, shift team, and inspection records.

Quality Control: 8 Inspection Gates

Angesen maintains a comprehensive, end-to-end quality management system:

  1. Incoming Raw Material Inspection: physicochemical testing of every batch of XPS resin and polymer mortar raw materials before acceptance
  2. Extrusion Process Monitoring: core density and thickness sampled every 30 minutes
  3. Coating Process Monitoring: in-line measurement of coating thickness and uniformity
  4. Post-Drying Inspection: board moisture content and dimensional deviation testing
  5. Finished Product Visual Inspection: dual assurance — human inspectors + AI visual detection
  6. Physical Performance Sampling: each production batch sampled for full testing: flexural strength, water absorption, bond strength, and more
  7. Pre-Packaging Re-Inspection: verification of specifications, quantity, and appearance
  8. Final Outgoing Audit: cross-checking order details against actual cargo

R&D Laboratory: Innovation Drives the Future

Angesen operates an independent on-site R&D laboratory equipped with:

  • Universal testing machine (flexural / compressive / pull-off testing)
  • Constant temperature and humidity chamber (accelerated aging)
  • Thermal conductivity analyzer
  • Water absorption test apparatus
  • Fire performance testing equipment

The R&D team comprises specialists from three disciplines: polymer materials, inorganic materials, and construction chemistry, continuously working on formulation optimization and new product development. Angesen holds multiple utility model patents and proprietary formulation technologies.

Warehouse & Logistics: Worry-Free Peak Season Supply

Total warehouse area exceeds 8,000 m², combining high-bay racking with floor stacking. The facility can simultaneously store 200 standard container loads of finished product. Warehouse management follows FIFO (First In, First Out) principles, with all inventory tracked in a digital ledger system.

Angesen maintains long-term partnerships with multiple international logistics providers and can support FOB, CIF, DDP, and other trade terms. For standard orders, the production-to-shipment cycle from deposit receipt is 15-25 days.
