Waterproof and Moisture-Proof
Waterproof mainly relies on the self-waterproof function of the core material polystyrene. The material has good weather resistance and anti-aging properties. The core material is non-penetrable and has waterproof functions; both sides are compounded with polymer adhesive slurry, which has good adhesion and water absorption properties, providing excellent bonding with the substrate and finishing layer. It also provides high compressive and bending performance for the board, while improving the workability of the board.
The rigid shell combined with the polystyrene core material, which can absorb lateral movement, makes the backing board an effective stress release layer.
Mildew and Corrosion Resistance
(Mold, a Class 1 carcinogen) Conventional leveling often fails over time. Water penetrates the leveling layer through the gaps in the tiles (water vapor can infiltrate through walls, floors, and ceilings). The leveling layer absorbs water; although excess water can be expelled through the second layer, there is still water and a large amount of moisture inside, which easily breeds mold (especially in backfill areas, where a large amount of moisture can accumulate).
The backing board replaces the leveling layer, and the surface layer uses a thin tile adhesive of only 3-5 mm. The second layer is right on the surface of the backing board. In the later stage, if the seam treatment fails, water can still be expelled in a timely manner, preventing large amounts of standing water and moisture, making it difficult for mold to grow.
Thermal Insulation
Reduce indoor energy consumption, which is beneficial for maintaining stable indoor temperatures and avoiding excessive impact from external climate changes on indoor temperatures. It can buffer temperature changes, make the indoor environment more comfortable, and reduce the damage from wind and moisture, keeping the indoor space relatively dry, preventing the occurrence of mold, condensation, and cold penetration.
Function Introduction
The leveling base layer has an almost zero expansion coefficient, providing good stability. It replaces the ground mortar leveling layer and the wall plaster leveling layer, allowing for quick tile installation while facilitating later replacements. The backing board has high base strength, simple adjustments for flatness and verticality, dry construction, and more convenient construction processes.
The backing board has low requirements for manual skills, is easy to handle, allows for clean and tidy construction, has a short construction period, and reduces labor costs. Wall treatment can be completed in 2 to 3 days, saving over 90% of the time compared to traditional methods.
Decoupling and Crack Resistance
Green and environmentally friendly, it adapts to building deformation capabilities, alleviating the transmission of cracks due to settlement. It does not contain harmful substances to the environment and human body, and has obtained certifications from Nordic SINTEF, EU CE, North American CUPC, and Australian CodeMark.
Base Installation Methods
The backer board can be installed on different framing configurations, including wood, steel, and aluminum, each of which has its specific spacing requirements. Whether you’re installing on wood or metal studs, Angesen’s backer board can adapt to your framing configuration, ensuring a solid and durable installation.
